The National Identity card is provided by Federal Government of Nigeria through the Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
National Identity Management System (NIMS): Carry out the enrolment of citizens and legal residents as provided for in the Act, Create and operate a National Identity Database, Issue Unique National Identification Numbers to qualified citizens and legal residents.
The National identity system was created by the federal Government to help identify her citizens and provides necessary amenities for them.

Then you ask yourself, “when am I going to get my card?” Well, this article is going to give you the step by step guild to know the status, whether the card is ready or not.
Getting to know the status of your National Identity Card is necessary because it will help you know the stage at which your card is. If your Identity Card is ready for collection or not.
Here are steps to Know if your card is ready
Note: this steps are for those that enrolled for the card.
- The first step is to visit https://touch.nimc.gov.ng
- The second step, When the page opens, scroll down to the button which says ‘click to proceed.’ A form will be opened to you to fill in your enrollment details.
- Step 3: When the form opens, carefully fill in your enrollment details exactly the way you supplied them when you went for the enrollment process.
Note; in the form, you will be required to fill in your first name, last name and national identification number. Make sure you input the details correctly.
After filling the form, click on the button that says ‘check now’ and the status of your National Identity Card will be displayed.
